Step by step: from USB to the first light

  1. Unbox and place the interface near the PC with room for XLR and (if Pro) the 12 V brick. Do not coil DMX next to dirty power leads for the smoke test.
  2. Plug the USB A–B ferrite cable. Expect USB / power LED activity on Mini / Pro as designed.

On TZ-1U or TZ-2U, connect the included 12 V 1 A supply before you trust a show floor. Confirm the external-power LED.

Run 120 Ω DMX from the Neutrik output(s) to the fixture. On TZ-1U both jacks carry the same universe; on TZ-2U each jack is a different universe.

Set the fixture address (DIP or menu) to match your soft patch (e.g. start address 1).

Launch software (only one). QLC+: Inputs/Outputs → DMX USB → enable output. FreeStyler: Setup → Enttec Open DMX / Open DMX.

Raise one channel (dimmer or a single color). If the interface DMX/status LED shows activity and the fixture responds, your baseline setup is good.

Software: minimum checklist for first light

  • One USB owner — close the other DMX app.
